Mountain West Conference News: Utah State and Colorado State have announced they are suing the conference in regards to exit fees.

Both schools have announced they are leaving the Mountain West to join the PAC 12 starting in the fall season of 2026.

The Mountain West is charging each school an exit fee between $19 and $38 million per school, which the schools say is invalid and unenforceable.

They also accuse the Mountain West of secretly amending bylaws without them being present.

This is the second lawsuit that has been filed against the Mountain West Conference.

The PAC 12 filed a suit in September, in which the Mountain West claims the PAC 12 owes them for poaching its members.

Joining Utah State and Colorado State in the exit, are Boise State, Fresno State and San Diego State.

Recently, Hawaii announced the school will participate in the Mountain West Conference in all sports starting in fall 2026, and UTEP will join in all sports as well.

Grand Canyon and UC Davis will join in all sports except football, and negotiations are underway to bring in Northern Illinois as a football only member.
