Timothée Chalamet’s ping-pong movie confirms 2025 release date
Timothée Chalamet’s ping-pong movie Marty Supreme has confirmed its 2025 release date in the US.
Deadline reports that studio A24 is lining up the film as its Christmas Day release for next year, opposite Sydney Sweeney’s The Housemaid and a handful of other films, while Avatar and SpongeBob SquarePants sequels will already be out and providing big competition.
The publication also states that while the film began as a biopic about eccentric table tennis player Marty Reisman, it has now morphed into something more akin to Catch Me If You Can and The Wolf of Wall Street, and only loosely based on Reisman’s life.

The film also stars music artist Tyler, the Creator, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Gwyneth Paltrow, The Nanny‘s Fran Drescher, and comedian Sandra Bernhard.
At a $70 million price tag, this is A24’s joint-most expensive film, alongside Dwayne Johnson’s The Smashing Machine.
Marty Supreme will be Chalamet’s second Christmas Day release in a row if it sticks to that date, as his Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Stranger is being released in the United States on December 25 this year.

And while it didn’t come out on Christmas Day last year, Wonka was released pretty close to the big day, coming out on December 15 in America.
While it did very well at the box office, director Paul King said that he’s in no rush to make a Wonka sequel.
“It’s definitely something we’re thinking about,” he said. “Of course there are some ideas sloshing around, but we don’t have a story yet, so we’ll see what happens.”
