The Electronic Music Artist Blowing People’s Minds at the Vegas Sphere

Electronic music producer Anyma has set a new standard for live performances at the Las Vegas Sphere with his innovative eight-show residency titled “The End of Genesys.”

As the first electronic music artist to headline the venue, Anyma captivated audiences with a sensory-rich display of music and technology. Six of the eight shows sold out within 24 hours of tickets being released, drawing over 100,000 attendees.

Newsweek contacted the Sphere via email for comment on the collaboration.

Why It Matters

The Italian-American DJ is the first electronic artist to test the capabilities of the most talked about venue in the country, and the reviews are strong. The Sphere’s design, featuring a large LED screen and advanced acoustics, was built for this type of performance, attendees have said on social media.

What To Know

Anyma, whose real name is Matteo Milleri, debuted “The End of Genesys” last Friday, drawing thousands of fans into a unique audiovisual experience. The Sphere’s state-of-the-art sound system and massive LED screens provided the perfect setting for Anyma’s cutting-edge performance, and the producer praised the venue.

“When I started Anyma, the long-term objective was to bring the audiovisual experience to the next level through VR and XR. I had no idea a physical space with those exact capabilities would be built,” he recently told Rolling Stone.

The residency has been a major success, with six of the eight shows selling out within 24 hours. Over 100,000 tickets have been sold.

The Sphere’s advanced technology allowed him to create a fully immersive concert experience. Speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Anyma described the event as “a plunge down an audio-visual rabbit hole of light and sound.”

Anyma’s 2023 debut album, Genesys, laid the groundwork for this ambitious residency. Tracks like “Eternity” and “Samsara” blend dynamic synth lines with themes exploring the connection between humans and machines.

During performances, his humanoid avatar, Eva, appears on massive screens, representing his hybrid identity in both physical and digital worlds. Visuals of Eva in surreal, glowing landscapes add a storytelling element to the music.

Anyma’s New Year’s Eve show will mark the venue’s first New Year’s celebration. “I’m thrilled to announce my residency and additional shows at the Sphere,” Anyma told Rolling Stone. “It’s beyond anything I could have hoped for.”

What People Are Saying

Gabriela Rodriguez, music critic at Las Vegas Weekly: “Anyma’s residency felt like plunging into the future of live entertainment. The visuals and soundscapes were not just groundbreaking but transformative for the audience.”

Josh Martin, music journalist, on Live for Live Music: “If ever there were a DJ whose act was tailor-made for MSG’s Sphere in Las Vegas, it’s Anyma.”

What Happens Next

The residency will run through January. As the Sphere gains attention, other artists are expected to follow, using the venue’s capabilities to create similarly advanced performances.
