ProDominicana showcases successes at SheTrades Hubs Annual Meeting in Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland.- A delegation from the Export and Investment Centre of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana), led by Executive Director Biviana Riveiro Disla, attended the Annual Meeting of SheTrades Hubs at the International Trade Centre (ITC) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The event aimed to gather SheTrades Hubs representatives from around the world to exchange experiences and strengthen the global initiative promoting women in international trade.

During the meeting, Riveiro Disla spoke on “Replicating Successes,” showcasing successful initiatives from the Dominican Republic to boost women’s participation in international trade. She highlighted key achievements, such as organizing four editions of the National Meeting of Women in Exportation since 2020, publishing annual studies on women-led export companies, and integrating these companies into public contracts.

Additionally, Carolina Pérez, Director of Market Intelligence at ProDominicana, participated in the meeting, where she gained insights into ITC’s priorities and discussed effective practices for measuring impact and communicating results.

In 2023, ProDominicana joined SheTrades by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with ITC and adopting the SheTrades Outlook tool, which assesses and improves the integration of gender perspectives in policies. The tool’s assessment of the Dominican Republic highlighted strengths in access to finance and skills but also identified areas for improvement in trade policy and labor. Following this, ProDominicana and other key institutions signed the “Commitment Letter for the Promotion of Gender Equality in the Export Activity of the Dominican Republic,” aiming to enhance gender equality in the export sector.
