Indian Railways train delay update: Several trains running-late due to dense fog, low visibility in Delhi area – Railways News

Dense fog continues to wreak havoc on train services across North India, with significant delays reported on Saturday (January 4). According to a report in India TV, a total of 49 trains arriving and departing from Delhi faced disruptions due to heavy fog, reducing visibility and causing most trains to run three to six hours behind schedule. The timings of 10 trains were also rescheduled to manage the cascading delays.

The ongoing fog has severely impacted Indian Railways, leading to widespread disruptions over the past two days. On Friday, the Vande Bharat Express from New Delhi to Varanasi, scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m., finally began its journey at 9:00 p.m., reflecting the extent of delays. Several premium services, including the Rajdhani Express, also reported delays of several hours. Notably, another Vande Bharat Express, expected to reach Delhi at 11:00 p.m., had still not arrived by 7:30 a.m. the following day.

List of trains delayed today

Several trains faced significant delays due to dense fog, with the Mahabodhi Express (12397) running six and a half hours behind schedule, making it one of the most delayed. The Sampoorna Kranti Express (12393) is delayed by three hours, while the New Delhi Duronto Express and Shram Shakti Express (12451) are running three and a half hours and four hours late, respectively. Other affected trains include the Ranikhet Express, delayed by two and a half hours, the Farakka Express by five hours, and the New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12301) by two hours. Additionally, the Lichhavi Express and the Mussoorie Express (14042) are each delayed by an hour.

The dense fog has also led to severe disruptions in road transport, especially in the Delhi-NCR region, where visibility has dropped below 50 meters, making driving hazardous. Commuters have faced significant challenges as traffic has slowed down to ensure safety. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the region, warning of continued dense fog conditions until Sunday.

Air travel has not been spared either, with over 400 flights delayed at Delhi airport due to poor visibility. The dense fog is expected to persist for the next few days, further complicating travel plans across air, road, and rail networks.

Indian Railways has advised passengers to stay updated on train schedules and plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
