I Am Kathalan was the second movie by director Girish AD with young star Naslen K Gafoor to be released in theatres in 2024 after the popular Premalu. Though I Am Kathalan failed to match the success of Premalu, the OTT release of the movie was much awaited. And now Manorama Max has confirmed that I Am Kathalan will be available for streaming on the platform starting next week.
When to watch I Am Kathalan on Manorama Max?
I Am Kathalan, which stars Naslen in the lead role, will make its much-awaited OTT premiere on Manorama Max on January 17, 2025. The comedy techno-thriller, which was released in theatres in November 2024, will also be available on OTTplay Premium. The film will be available in its original Malayalam language along with English subtitles.

I Am Kathalan plot and cast
Naslen stars in the role of Vishnu, a BTech graduate, who is unable to get any placements because of his backlogs. He suffers another setback when his girlfriend Shilpa breaks up with him. After he has a humiliating experience with her father, Vishnu resorts to his hacking skills to exact revenge and targets his business where Shilpa also works. Dileesh Pothan, Lijomol Jose, and Anishma Anilkumar play key roles in this film.

In I Am Kathalan, an ‘expert’ character explains that a hacker is someone who wears a hoodie, has a backpack, and tattoos. Through this film, set in the small town of Kerala, Girish has effectively debunked the Hollywood-esque concept of hackers that most of the millennials would have grown up watching.
Apart from the rather simplistic yet engaging plotline, the performances of the lead characters would keep you invested in the movie. Naslen, who has made a mark for himself in a short time in the Malayalam industry, has once again effortlessly portrayed Vishnu’s ordeal and quest for revenge.
I Am Kathalan marks yet another collaboration of Girish AD and Naslen after Premalu, which also starred Mamitha Baiju. The breezy rom-com was instantly liked by audiences, even outside Kerala, when it was released in February 2024. A sequel is also said to be on the cards.
