Mercedes-Benz is the most desirable luxury car brand in India with 2 lakh units sold since 1994.

Strong demand across all classes

Similar to the trend seen in previous years, Mercedes-Benz has registered robust demand for its cars across its entry, core and Top-End Vehicle (TEV) segments. Data also reveals that there was a strong demand for both existing and new models. A total of 14 new products were introduced in 2024, including 9 Top-End Vehicles.

Mercedes India Sales – Over the years

In addition to the best-ever annual sales numbers, the company has also achieved the best-ever sales numbers for all quarters of CY2024. It reveals the brand’s consistent focus on enhancing its portfolio, improving service offerings and providing seamless access to finance options.

BEV sales grow 94%, TEVs at 30%

As part of the goal to reduce its carbon footprint, Mercedes-Benz has introduced new BEV models at regular intervals. With advanced tech and state-of-the-art features, these BEVs have registered strong demand in recent years. In CY2024, Mercedes-Benz BEV sales registered YoY growth of 94%. Enhanced marked penetration of over 6% was registered in YTD Jan-Dec 2024 sales. A total of 4 BEVs were launched in CY2024 – the EQA 250+, 5-seater EQB SUV, ‘Made in India’ EQS SUV 580 and the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV. These played a key role in boosting BEV sales.

New Mercedes EQS SUV 5 seater variant

Mercedes-Benz is currently the market leader in the luxury BEV segment. The brand has ensured that its BEV portfolio has ample options to suit the varying needs and preferences of customers. In Q4, 2024, the company’s BEV sales recorded an impressive growth of 110%. Starting 2025, Mercedes-Benz has further expanded its BEV portfolio to include the 5-Seater ‘Made in India’ EQS 450 SUV and the iconic G-Class. These will further bolster BEV sales and can improve the numbers for CY2025.

Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End Vehicle (TEV) range registered double digit YoY growth of 30% in CY2024. Of every 4 Mercedes-Benz cars sold in CY2024, one was a TEV. Some of the bestselling TEVs include the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 580.

More cars in 2025, focus on network expansion

Going forward, Mercedes-Benz will take steps to strengthen its dominance in the luxury car segment. As part of that strategy, the company has plans to introduce 8 new cars in India in 2025. These will include multiple Top End Vehicles as well as BEVs. One of the upcoming products is the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV ‘Night Series’, which will be launched at 2025 Bharat Mobility Show.

To boost sales, Mercedes-Benz will also step up focus on opening new outlets. There are plans to open around 20 new luxury touchpoints in 2025. The luxury carmaker also has plans to enter new markets such as Kanpur, Agra, Patna and Jammu. For its BEV customers, the company will focus on expanding its charging network.
