‘SNL’ announces first 2025 hosts: Dave Chappelle, Timothée Chalamet
Saturday Night Live has set its first hosts of 2025.
Dave Chappelle will host the show’s first episode of the new year on Jan. 18, with musical guest GloRilla. The comedian’s appearance will mark his fourth time hosting the show, after hosting post-election episodes in 2016 and 2020 and an additional stint in 2022.

The following week, Jan. 25, Timothée Chalamet will host the show for the third time… with musical guest Timothée Chalamet.
That’s not a typo, and you’re not misreading anything. Chalamet, who is not a musician, is performing as the musical guest.

It’s not immediately clear what music Chalamet will be performing on the show, as he has not released any music of his own. However, he’s led two music-focused films in the last 13 months: 2023’s Wonka and 2024’s A Complete Unknown, the latter of which has earned him massive praise for eerily emulating the mannerisms and singing abilities of Bob Dylan.
Chalamet recorded over a dozen Dylan songs for the Complete Unknown soundtrack, and performed 40 songs live (with guitar and harmonica accompaniment, no less) during the shooting of the film.
“It was important for me to sing and play live,” Chalamet said in a behind-the-scenes featurette in December. “Because if I can actually do it, why should there be an element of artifice here? And I’m proud that we took that leap.”
Chalamet also notably sang on previous SNL appearances, including the recurring “Tiny Horse” digital short segment.
Saturday Night Live, currently in season 50, returns Jan. 18 at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
