High School Prospect Draws 24 College Football Offers & Makes 5th Visit to Favorite SEC Giant

The 2024 college football season will be over in 8 days. Just one more game, and it’s a wrap. That doesn’t mean things take a pause. Oh, no, no! Not even for a second. You’d think that the prominent programs would be looking at the 2025 recruiting class. Well, yes, however, the concerns aren’t limited to the next year. Every program is equally focused on the 2026 and 2027 class as well. One high school player is gaining huge attraction, with one particular school emerging as a frontrunner to get his signature.

Let’s talk about the program first. It’s none other than Alabama Crimson Tide. As we write, it has been a year since Nick Saban dropped the bombshell and called it quits at Tuscaloosa. The life under Kalen DeBoer didn’t start on a rosy note. Multiple players moved to the transfer portal, and despite his successful run at the Huskies, the new Bama head coach didn’t have a great first year. If you’re a Tide faithful, you’d know the whole story. It was a great start, a win over the Bulldogs, the No. 1 ranked team, and then all of a sudden. Vanderbilt hit, Missouri hit, and late in the season, the Sooners hit, as well. Every bad turn, every lost game, and naturally, DeBoer was compared to Nick Saban.

Next year, things must change for the better, or otherwise, DeBoer would be two-and-done. How does that change happen? You have to start on the recruitment front. However, the Bama HC can’t just focus on the 2025 season. He has to have an eye on the future. As a program, the Crimson Tide has always had one of the best recruiting classes every year. There is one big gap, though. With time, the Tide stopped focusing on in-state recruits: the players coming out of Alabama. The current staff is trying to change that with a sense of urgency, and that’s where our high school stud comes in.

On the January 10 episode of Bama Tailgate, host Mick Gillispie talked about the No. 1 running back of the 2027 class. What’s so special about him? Offers from 24 college football programs? You want a list? Let us start with Arizona, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, and Ohio State. You name the college program, and they’ve offered this guy.

As per Gillispie, “Ezavier Crowell’s a guy who is right now going to be the nation’s number one sophomore running back or next year would be the junior running back. But what a campaign this guy had in his freshman year.”

Crowell is currently attending Jackson High School in Alabama. In his freshman season in the school, Crowell shocked everyone. Just look at these numbers: 1,737 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns on 166 carries. This is Ashton Jeanty stuff. Add to that 212 passing yards and five touchdowns on 11 receptions. No wonder there are so many Crowell believers.

Why did we build that whole Alabama thing? Well, Crowell has visited the Crimson Tide five times so far. It helps that he’s in-state, and the program is trying to have more Alabama guys. “This is a guy you build your class around. Already the number one back in the class. He’s an Alabama guy. There’s a connection there,” Gillispie said.

That’s the connection that DeBoer and his staff are trying to utilize, and however the results may have panned out, Kalen DeBoer is his own man when it comes to recruiting. “All you’re hearing is that these guys really like to be around coach DeBoer. This isn’t Nick Saban. We have talked about this before. But DeBoer has his own ways of being able to convince players to come play for him. He’s got his own way of connecting,” Gillispie said.

Alabama’s 2025 D-line looks solid

Let’s share some good news, Bama fans. The defense will have a solid base in 2025. Why? Well, some key players are set to return next year. Veteran leadership is vital for any defense, and players like LT Overton and Tim Keenan III will provide just that. Of course, the program lost Hunter Osborne, Damon Payne and Jahiem Oatis to the portal. However, some key additions will help the Tide.

London Simmons, a three-star D-lineman, comes from the high school route. The Mississippi born provide his worth at the high school level and can compliment what Keenan offers to the defense.

Moreover, thanks to Diogo Pavia, Kalen DeBoer has also secured the services of some JUCO products. Kevonte Henry and Steve Mboumoua will of course need some time, but their future looks bright at Tuscaloosa. Then, from the transfer portal also came Kelby Collins, a former top-50 recruit. All in all, the defense will be much better next year, and all DeBoer needs to figure out is the other side of the ball.
