New Turkish Humanitarian Aid Shipment Arrives in Herat, Afghanistan
The Turkish Embassy has announced that the 21st “Train of Kindness,” carrying 724 tons of humanitarian aid, has arrived in Herat. The embassy stated that this aid was sent to Afghanistan under the support of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, with assistance from the country’s non-governmental organizations.
On Saturday, January 11, the Turkish Embassy in Kabul wrote that this aid includes food and other essential items required by the Afghanistan’s people to overcome the harsh conditions of the winter season. These supplies aim to ease the suffering of vulnerable communities in Afghanistan.
It was noted that this humanitarian aid will be distributed across all 34 provinces of Afghanistan in the coming days. The comprehensive distribution plan seeks to ensure that assistance reaches those most in need, regardless of location.
This is the 21st shipment of Turkish aid to Afghanistan over the past three years. The 724-ton shipment includes 4,000 tents, 3,000 blankets, 5,000 kitchen kits, 10,000 food packages, and a quantity of hygiene supplies.
Shahabuddin Delawar, the head of the Taliban Red Crescent, was present at the ceremony for handing over Turkey’s humanitarian aid. His presence highlighted the collaboration between Turkey and the local authorities in ensuring the effective delivery of assistance.
The Turkish Embassy in Kabul emphasized that the “Train of Kindness” symbolizes the solidarity of the Turkish people with the people of Afghanistan. This gesture underscores Turkey’s ongoing commitment to supporting Afghanistan during challenging times.
Earlier this year, the 20th “Train of Kindness” from Turkey carried over 600 tons of aid in 43 wagons and was sent to Afghanistan in June. The aid reached the country within 15 days, reflecting Turkey’s consistent efforts to provide timely support.
As temperatures continue to drop in Afghanistan, several international aid organizations have raised alarms about the growing poverty and the escalating need for humanitarian aid in the country.
