Plot and storyline of I Want to Talk

In the film, before he learns he has just 100 days to live, Arjun is enjoying the “American Dream”—a life in which he doesn’t dislike talking but rather thrives on it. His sole desires are to spend time with his estranged daughter, who is seven years old, and to stay alive. The plot of “I Want to Talk,” a ‘daughter-father’ narrative based on actual events, revolves around this charming man’s manipulative ways.

The film opened in theatres on November 22, 2024, to positive reviews from critics, but it was a financial disaster, earning a pitiful Rs. 1.25 crore at the box office.

Shoojit Sircar and Abhishek Bachchan’s insights on I Want to Talk

Earlier, while talking about I Want to Talk, Sircar stated that relationships play a significant role in this slice-of-life film. Occasionally, people come to regret the occasions when they fail to express themselves fully. I Want to Talk tells the protagonist’s journey and captures all those moments and life’s experiences.

On the other hand, Abhishek said that as an actor, it’s comforting to know that there’s room for everyone. He encouraged the viewers to look for similarities in their own lives. Life has them all in a rut, yet they are content with their routines. Among them, they will find people with corporate jobs, artists, and those who just do what they want. Life dictates what one ought to be doing and how they ought to accomplish it. The beauty of working on a film like this with Sircar is that one gets to pause every so often and think, “Hey, no, I can do something different; maybe I should try something different.” Abhishek shared that one won’t find anything more satisfying than when that happens.
