Heavy Fog in Delhi-NCR Creates Havoc for Train Services

New Delhi : The movement of several trains has been severely impacted as dense fog blankets the Delhi-NCR region, significantly reducing visibility. The prevailing weather conditions have disrupted train schedules, causing inconvenience to passengers. According to a statement by Indian Railways, as many as 12 Delhi-bound trains have been delayed by up to two hours, with further delays possible if the fog persists.

Some of the affected trains include the Poorva Express, Shramjeevi Express, Purushottam Express, Gondwana Express, and Kaifiyat Express, which are important long-distance services catering to thousands of passengers daily. The delays have resulted in a ripple effect, impacting subsequent train schedules and station operations.

Indian Railways has advised passengers to check the latest train status before heading to their respective boarding stations to avoid unnecessary waiting and inconvenience. Real-time updates are being provided through official channels, including the Indian Railways website and mobile applications like NTES (National Train Enquiry System). Passengers are also encouraged to contact the railway helpline for assistance.

The dense fog has created significant challenges for train operators, as poor visibility increases the risk of accidents and necessitates precautionary measures, including reduced train speeds. Rail traffic controllers are working diligently to ensure safety while managing delays. While the safety of passengers remains the top priority, the slow movement of trains due to limited visibility has caused significant disruptions in the schedules.

Passengers traveling during the winter months are accustomed to weather-related disruptions, but the intensity of this season’s fog has been particularly problematic. With visibility levels dropping drastically, not only has rail traffic been affected, but road and air transport have also experienced disruptions, creating widespread challenges across the Delhi-NCR region.

Railway authorities have urged passengers to remain patient and plan their journeys carefully. Travelers are advised to arrive at stations with extra time in hand and to make use of waiting lounges where available. Authorities are also working to minimize inconvenience by deploying additional staff at major stations to assist passengers.
