SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 2024 movie starring two Oscar winners on Amazon Prime also happens to have a very distinct local connection — a child actor from Southington.
Southington resident Baylen “Bay” Bielitz, 10, is in the 2024 film “Mothers’ Instinct,” which was released in theaters earlier this year and stars Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain.
According to Baylen’s publicist, Judy Hartling, filming took place in 2022 in New Jersey and was in limited release in theaters earlier this year before being released for streaming.
Set in 1960, “Mothers’ Instinct” is a psychological thriller about two female neighbors whose idyllic, suburban lives take a major twist after a tragedy.
Baylen plays the young son of Hathaway’s character.
Of course, Baylen is not new to the limelight as he appeared in the hit 2021 Marvel Disney+ series “WandaVision.”
According to his publicist, Baylen’s mother — Laura Bielitz — joined her son on set while filming “Mothers’ Instinct.”
The actor/model has also appeared in the Netflix movie “The Noel Diary” and Paramount+’s “Evil” series.
Bay will next star in the film Here’s Yanni. That film stars Julia Ormond, Joe Cortese, Rosanna Arquette and Eric Roberts.
As for working with two Hollywood legends still in the prime of their careers, Baylen said the experience was rewarding.
“It’s been a lot of hard work but I’ve been so lucky to be able to work with actors like Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain. They were both so nice and I learned so much from them,” Baylen said. “I just love acting. I’m always training and practicing to be better. I love it whether it’s on a movie set or musical theatre. It’s so much fun.”
His mother agreed and said her son will always have his family’s support as long as he wants to act.
“Bay has always been an old soul with a wonderful ability to focus and work with people. Our friends and family urged us to get him into acting and modeling and he’s taken to it so well. Bay works hard and we’re grateful to have gotten some amazing opportunities starting with WandaVision, his first TV role. As long as he enjoys it, we will keep supporting his dreams,” she said.
