European football ignites India, transforming sports viewing experience, ET BrandEquity

European football has long held a special place in the hearts of Indian fans. Legends from South America and across Europe—like Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, and Jude Bellingham—have become icons, particularly in leagues like La Liga, capturing the imagination of the Indian subcontinent like never before. This season of La Liga is already in full swing, with thrilling matches adding to the excitement.

Fans in India can enthral in the action on the GXR app, the new home for European football. The GXR app, owned by Galaxy Racer, a Dubai-based company, has secured streaming rights for the Spanish league, Serie A and Ligue 1 beginning from the 2024-25 season.

GXR has bagged the official media rights partnership for three of the top premier European Leagues featuring legendary football clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid for the next six years. Serie A rights will prolong for the next four years while Ligue 1 will process for four seasons as a minimum. Fans will be able to watch all the Live action free to air in the Indian sub-continent.

The appetite for high-quality football content in India is immense, and with GXR’s Super App, we aim to cater to this demand in a way that has never been done before,” Paul Roy, CEO, Galaxy Racer said.

“An exciting and innovative journey begins together with two other great European Leagues, in a country that has already hosted some legends of Italian football such as Del Piero and Materazzi, football stars in the recent past in India,” Luigi De Siervo, Lega Serie A CEO said.

Galaxy Racer (GXR), a Dubai-based transmedia company, has secured media rights for LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, and Ligue 2 in the Indian subcontinent starting from the 2024/25 season. The matches will be streamed live and free-to-air, enhancing fan engagement through GXR’s innovative Super App.
