Flying Beast Gaurav Taneja and Anupam Mittal on Shark Tank India 4

In the latest Shark Tank India Season 4 episode, popular YouTuber Gaurav Taneja aka Flying Beast and his partner Raj Gupta came to pitch their fitness and wellness brand BeastLife. The brand sought Rs 1 crore for a 1% equity stake to scale its innovative, easily digestible protein supplements.

Gaurav Taneja shocked everyone when he said that his brand BeastLife had sales of Rs 1 crore within just 1 hour of launching its password-protected website. This happened due to Gaurav’s massive social media following with 9.5 million YouTube subscribers and 3.7 million Instagram followers.

The Shark Tank India judges looked impressed at first, but they expressed serious concerns about his ability to evolve into a full-time entrepreneur. Anupam Mittal even called him “a terrible entreprenuer” as he added, “You are a good influencer, but you can’t outsource entrepreneurship.” He said that Gaurav needs to provide his undivided attention on BeastLife.

The other judges agreed with Anupam and questioned his focus on his brand. Gaurav’s divided focus between multiple business ventures and his demanding influencer career, the fragmented equity split between the founders, and doubts over his long-term commitment to BeastLife were the critical factors that led the judges to reject Gaurav and Raj’s brand BeastLife.

Streaming on SonyLIV, Shark Tank India 4 has industry leaders including Anupam Mittal (Founder and CEO, People Group); Aman Gupta (Co-Founder and CMO, boAt Lifestyle); Namita Thapar (Executive Director, Emcure Pharmaceuticals); Ritesh Agarwal (Founder and Group CEO, OYO); Peyush Bansal (Co-Founder and CEO, Lenskart); Vineeta Singh (Co-Founder and CEO, SUGAR Cosmetics); Azhar Iqubal (Co-Founder and Chairman, Inshorts); Varun Dua (Founder and CEO, ACKO); Kunal Bahl (Co-Founder, Snapdeal and Titan Capital, Promoter Unicommerce) and Viraj Bahl (Founder and Managing Director of Veeba/VRB Consumer Products).
