Kangana Ranaut’s political drama earns just Rs 2.4 crore

Emergency movie box office collection day 1: Emergency, which hit the screens on January 17, has taken a slow start at the domestic box office. The film premiered in theatres alongside Ajay Devgn’s Azaad and is Kangana Ranaut’s first release after the commercially unsuccessful Tejas (2023). Emergency is a political drama, directed by the Queen star herself.

Emergency fails to attract the audience

Emergency, one of the most talked about films of the month, has failed to make an impact at the box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, it netted Rs 2.4 crore in India on the first day. The figure should have been a lot higher as its tickets were priced at just Rs 99 on the occasion of Cinema Lovers Day.

Emergency received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the execution. This went against the film. The political drama is expected to witness some growth today (January 18) as its a Saturday. It may also benefit from the mixed response to Azaad.
