Vayve Eva launched at Rs 3.25 lakh— India’s first solar powered EV – Car News
The Vayve Eva has no direct rivals in the Indian market as of now.
Pune-based Vayve Mobility has launched the first-ever solar powered electric vehicle (EV) called Eva. At a starting price of Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom), the Eva has made its first public appearance at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Official bookings for the solar powered car have begun at a token amount of Rs 5,000.
However, deliveries of the Eva will only commence in the latter half of 2026. Furthermore, the first 25,000 customers will get additional perks such as an extended battery warranty and 3 years of complimentary vehicle connectivity.
Speaking at the launch of Eva, Saurabh Mehta, Chief Technology Officer, Vayve Mobility said “The synergy between our solar panels and electric motor is a result of years of research, allowing Eva to offer an extended range without compromising on performance, thanks to an integration of leading-edge hardware and intelligent software.”

Vayve Eva: Price & Subscription
Vayve is offering Eva in three battery pack options: 9 kWh, 12 kWh, and 18 kWh, with prices up to Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in three variants: Nova, Stella, and Vega. The corresponding prices are given below:
Eva Variant | With the battery rental plan | Without the battery rental plan |
Nova | Rs 3.25 lakh | Rs 3.99 lakh |
Stella | Rs 3.99 lakh | Rs 4.99 lakh |
Vega | Rs 4.49 lakh | Rs 5.99 lakh |
The battery pack for Vayve EVA can be subscribed to at a cost of Rs 2 per kilometer driven. This eliminates the need for a significant initial outlay on the battery itself. However, a minimum annual mileage is enforced: 600 km for the Nova, 800 km for the Stella, and 1200 km for the Vega. This means you’ll be charged for these minimum distances, even if your actual driving falls short.

According to the company’s internal surveys, the running cost of a petrol hatchback is Rs 5 per kilometre, but Eva slashes it to a tenth (1/10th) to Rs 0.5 per kilometre, as a result of its high efficiency due to its smaller size and lighter weight. This high efficiency also enables Eva to provide up to 3,000 km of free solar charging with an optional solar roof, which is up to 30% of a typical city commuter’s annual driving need.
Vayve Eva: Powertrain specs
The Vayve Eva is offered with multiple battery and motor options. Each variant comes with a rear-wheel drive configuration. Further, Vayve claims that the solar roof panel adds 10 km of range everyday. The Eva can clock a top speed of 70 kmph and can climb to 40 kmph from standstill 5 seconds. The variant-wise specification is given below:
Eva Variant | Nova | Stella | Vega |
Battery pack | 9 kWh | 14 kWh | 18 kWh |
Power | 16 PS | 16 PS | 20 PS |
Drivetrain | RWD | RWD | RWD |
Claimed range | 125 km | 175 km | 250 km |
Vayve Eva: Features
The Vayve Eva comes with a twin-screen setup comprising a touchscreen infotainment and a digital instrument cluster. Other convenience features include a manual AC, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a two-spoke steering wheel, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and a fixed glass roof.
