The Garrett Family to entertain Thursday Music Club | News, Sports, Jobs
WHEELING — The Garrett Family, a family of teachers and performers, will entertain the Thursday Music Club at 11 a.m. Feb. 6 at the Char House on the Boulevard in Wheeling.
Among the family members is Joshua Garrett, band director at Sherrard Middle School. He is a drummer and singer who performs throughout the Ohio Valley and Western Pennsylvania.
Shelby Garrett received her master’s degree in theater performance from West Virginia University, teaching public speaking at Wheeling University. She performs and directs in Wheeling, Morgantown and Pittsburgh, officials stated.
Leslie and Pat Garrett, retired music teachers who perform with friends, are musicians at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Reservations to attend the meeting can be made by calling Sandy Smith prior to Feb. 2 at (304) 242-1628.
Dinner will be served at the Char House following the meeting. The cost will be $20. Those attending will be greeted by club members Mary Mellot and Alice Runkle.
Members announced chorus practice for the upcoming spring concert began Jan. 15 at the Elm Grove United Methodist Church. The concert will be held April 3.
The choir director is Anita Chops. Debbie Breiding is her accompanist.
Practices will continue from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. For information, contact Chops at (304) 551-1414.
Study groups are being held at 1 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Elm Grove Methodist Church. Various topics will be highlighted.
Thursday Music Club youth auditions will take place on April 4-5 at Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church. Those who will be teaching are to be contacted soon, officials said.
The club welcomes anyone who has an interest in music to join at any time.
Annual dues cost $20.
