CM bats for investments projecting Hyderabad with world’s best mobility options and environment-friendly setup
Projecting Hyderabad as the city with the world’s best mobility options and at the same time in an environment-friendly setup, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy urged the business leaders to invest in Hyderabad to make it the fastest growing city in the world.
Speaking at the CII-HMC Roundtable session on “Reimagining Urban Mobility: Trends, Innovations and Opportunities” at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Chief Minister said that If one wants to predict the future of any city over the next 10, 20, 30 or 50 years, cities where costs and time to move people and goods is low, will win in the long term.
He argued that urban mobility was the foundation for cities’ growth and future. And the growth of nations depend on growth of cities. So urban mobility will, along with sustainability and environmental factors, decide the future of mankind.
Pushing for investments, the Chief Minister said that Hyderabad with a population of over 12 million was the fastest growing connecting the city from all around and also to towns and villages through the Outer Ring Road, Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the proposed regional rail link along the RRR.
With another 100 km of Metro Rail track to be added soon doubling the existing capacity, he said the ORR with 160 km and RRR with 360 km will connect all major towns and villages. Hyderabad will have the best urban mobility facility in the country.
Mr. Revanth Reddy said the plans to build a Regional Ring Railway around the Regional Ring Road will ensure that people have two circles of roads and two circles of railway. Connecting with the radial roads the mobility advantage for the city will be tremendous.
While overcoming the challenges of mobility making it environment-friendly is the need, the Chief Minister argued and said that the Telangana government is replacing 3,000 petrol and diesel public transport buses with electric ones.
Electric vehicles are a big focus for the government, he said reminding the zero registration charges introduced by the Telangana government on all electric vehicles. With this initiative, Telangana has the highest growth of sales in EVs in entire India, he said.
Added to it is the planned Future City, a net zero city thus giving the world’s best mobility options in Hyderabad, he said inviting business leaders to invest in such an environment where 40 million people of Telangana will move in the fastest time, in the greenest way and at the lowest cost.
“As they say, the city that moves best will grow the fastest. Help me make Hyderabad the fastest city in the world, the greenest city in the world,” he said concluding his address.
