Banking industry group urges OCC to repeal bank M&A rules
A US banking industry group has urged the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to repeal its 2024 M&A policy statement in line with a move made by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation earlier in the week.
The two agencies last year issued M&A policy statements expanding the number of factors taken into account when reviewing bank merger applications, a move roundly criticised by the domestic banking industry for creating what it described as an “opaque and uncertain” merger process.
