Piyush Goyal lauds MasterChef for its innovative India-focused theme – Trending News
Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Member of Parliament from North Mumbai, Piyush Goyal, has extended his support to MasterChef India’s latest initiative in collaboration with the Government of India. The upcoming season of the culinary show will be powered by the Geographical Indications (GI) of India, a step aimed at highlighting the nation’s rich culinary heritage. “MasterChef India Geographical Indications of India The real celebrities of taste!” Goyal said through a post on X (formerly Twitter). This partnership reflects an effort to blend popular culture with the promotion of unique, region-specific products that hold a GI tag, such as Darjeeling tea, Alphonso mangoes, and Mysore silk.
What Are GIs of India?
Geographical Indications (GIs) are marks used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation due to that origin. These tags ensure legal protection for the producers of these items and help preserve the heritage of traditional knowledge. India boasts a rich collection of GI-tagged goods, ranging from handicrafts to agricultural products, and this collaboration with MasterChef India is seen as an innovative way to bring attention to them.
