‘One of the best movies of all time’ is on TV tonight

The film went on to receive 12 Academy Award nominations

A ‘masterful, heartbreaking movie’ is set to be shown on TV tonight. The award-winning film, which went on to win seven of 12 Academy Award nominations, is set to air on BBC Two at 10.30pm on Sunday, January 26.

Schindler’s List received critical acclaim for its heartbreaking portrayal of German-occupied Poland during the Second World War. The film follows Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist, who saved the lives of thousands of refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories.The film is based on the historical novel Schindler’s Ark.

The Steven Spielberg directed film went on to receive numerous accolades including Academy Awards, BAFTAs and Golden Globes. The film’s cast includes Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley and Caroline Goodall.

Film fans also gave glowing reviews, with an overall 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One viewer on the platform said: “One word – Masterpiece! Great acting, directing and cinematography. Pulls your heart-string from start to finish. One of the best war movies ever made. Spielberg’s best work!”

Another viewer added: “Schindler’s List is a masterful, heartbreaking movie about the Holocaust that leaves you thinking about it long after you watch it. John Williams’s score is unforgettably beautiful.”
