Australian Farmers and Entrepreneurs Visit India’s Wool Research Hub

Thane, Jan 30 (KNN) A high-profile delegation of 40 Australian farmers and entrepreneurs visited India’s premier wool research centre in Thane on Tuesday, aiming to explore research advancements and assess new growth opportunities in the wool sector.

The visit is part of a broader initiative to strengthen trade relations and foster collaboration between the two nations in the textile industry.

Established in 1980, the wool research centre, located at Sandoz Bagh in Thane, operates under India’s Union Ministry of Textiles.

It stands as the country’s only dedicated research facility for wool processing, playing a crucial role in advancing fabric technology.

The centre specializes in research tailored for multiple industries, including military-grade textiles, high-performance sportswear, and medical applications, ensuring compliance with international quality standards.

During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with Indian researchers and industry experts, gaining firsthand insights into the centre’s pioneering work.

The institute has long been recognised as a government-approved hub for wool research, with a strong focus on innovation and sustainability.

Harish Chatterjee, Director General of the Wool Research Association, emphasised the significance of the Australian delegation’s visit.

“This exchange presents an excellent opportunity for both nations to collaborate on wool research and industry expansion. The expertise and advancements showcased here can pave the way for future trade agreements and technological partnerships,” he stated.

The visit marks an important step in bolstering India-Australia trade relations in the textile sector.

Following their time in Thane, the delegation is set to travel to the national capital for high-level discussions with representatives from both the Australian and Indian governments.
