Taylor Lautner Rewatched the Twilight Films and Revealed His Favorite (It’s Not New Moon)

Many actors have explained that it’s difficult to watch themselves on the big screen. Taylor Lautner, who played Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga, has shared he used to always find something wrong with his performance.

However, in a new episode of his podcast, The Squeeze, which he hosts with his wife Tay Lautner, the actor revealed he rewatched the films. He and his wife revealed that their new “date night” routine involves watching films together, and that started with several big franchises, including Harry Potter. Among them was also Twilight, and also revealed his favorite film now.

Lautner revealed that they watched the Twilight franchise around the 39:40 mark. The actor revealed that “it had been a long time” since he’d seen the films. “It was good. Pleasantly was really enjoyable,” he said about his recent experience.

Of course, I love New Moon and have a soft spot for it because that’s like “Jacob’s movie.”

“I feel like a lot of the things I watch that I’ve done are just tough because you just tend to critique yourself and just be hard on yourself. I know that when I’ve watched them before I had done that, and it’s been tough for me to watch them and enjoy them.”

He continued, “This time it was just a totally different experience. I was able to sit down with you and just sit back and relax, it didn’t feel like I was watching myself, I was able to remove myself from the movies and just, as a fan, watch them and also say, ‘Wow these are pretty enjoyable.’“

Lautner’s wife Tay famously was on Team Edward instead of Team Jacob, so the actor asked her if she changed her opinion. However, based on her silence, he got the point that her opinion didn’t change much.

Lautner played Jacob Black in all five films since 2008’s Twilight. However, it was 2009’s New Moon that put him in the spotlight. In the first movie, he was just Bella’s friend but his arc fully developed in the second entry, as the two started spending more time together and him becoming a werewolf. However, the fact that he’s in the film a lot doesn’t mean it’s automatically Lautner’s favorite movie.

“That is the thing because I’ve been asked that question so many times throughout the years,” he said when asked what his favorite film is around the 44:48 mark. “Now, re-watching them one through five, removed from them, the last two are definitely my favorite.” He continued, “Of course, I love New Moon and have a soft spot for it because that’s like “Jacob’s movie,” and I loved the action of Eclipse and the tone of Eclipse, but just in terms of the best, most enjoyable movies, I think the Breaking Dawns.“

The five films of The Twilight Saga are heading to Peacock on Feb. 1.
