Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s Daughter Kaveri Kapur To Debut With This Film

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, known for his Oscar-nominated 1998 film Elizabeth, and actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s daughter, Kaveri Kapur, is all set to make her acting debut. However, her debut won’t be in Masoom 2, the sequel to her father’s 1983 cult classic.

On Monday, Suchitra took to Instagram to unveil the first-look poster for Kaveri’s debut film, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story. In the poster, Kaveri, wearing a blue top, red jacket, and sporting bangs, rests her head on the shoulder of her co-star, Vardhan Puri, who dons a grey T-shirt and striped white shirt. The two are seated under a tree, with the film’s title displayed across the image. Vardhan Puri is the grandson of legendary actor Amrish Puri, best known for his iconic character Magambo.

Suchitra shared the poster on Instagram, expressing her pride for her daughter’s Bollywood debut. She wrote, “So so so proud of you. Some love stories are meant to be, no matter the time, no matter the distance.” Kaveri responded in the comments with red heart emojis

The light-hearted romantic film, starring 34-year-old Vardhan and 24-year-old Kaveri, is set to be released on a streaming platform, with Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on February 11, 2025.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Vardaan shared “What makes this love story amazing is that it’s very Kunal Kohli-esque. It is a breath of fresh air because you’re watching so many dramatic stories, so much violence, and action, and I’ve been craving a nice emotional rom-com filled with romance.”

“I think the simplicity and the layered quality of this film make it very special, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience the magic of young lovers—their romance, their tiffs, their making up,” he added. Kunal Kohli has previously directed award-winning films like Hum Tum and Fanaa.

In 2016, Kaveri launched her hit love song “Did You Know ” on YouTube in June and quickly made it into the Indian top 10. She shared at that time, the pressure and the sheer amount of expectations of media, her parents and more importantly, herself.
