#7 UMD women’s hockey completes sweep against top ranked Ohio State
The 7th ranked UMD women’s hockey team took a trip to Columbus, Ohio, with the opportunity to avenge last year’s NCAA tournament loss.
The Bulldogs did just that, beating the Buckeyes 4-3 on Sunday to complete the sweep.
Like Saturday’s game, the Bulldogs fell behind 1-0, but Clara Van Wieren found the back of the net before the end of the first period to tie the game at 1-1.
Just a couple of minutes into the second period, Jenna Lawry found the back of the net for the Bulldogs, giving them their second score of the game.
The story of the game though was freshman Caitlin Kraemer, who scored the first collegiate goal of her career to tie the game up at 3-3, and then score the game winner, lifting UMD to victory.
The Bulldogs look to take their momentum into next weekend’s contest against Syracuse on Saturday at 7 p.m.
