Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met Thursday with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi for expanded talks.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade, shipping, and investment. They also discussed enhancing cooperation during Greece’s tenure on the UN Security Council.

According to a Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs post on social media platform X, Gerapetritis highlighted Greece’s geostrategic role and the importance of the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC) as a gateway to Europe.

As part of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, both ministers agreed to boost cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges. Gerapetritis confirmed plans to open new consulates in Mumbai and Bangalore.
