Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stated that the problem of fair revenue sharing between St Kitts and Nevis will soon come to an end, during the Roundtable discussion, held on February 6th, 2025. He said the World Bank has handed over a comprehensive report with elaborate recommendations for impartial financial arrangement.

The Prime Minister explained that the recommendations by the World Bank included an economic assessment and financial models to ensure fair allocation of revenues that are being generated by the twin island nation.

He further stated that it is the duty of the federal government to ensure equal distribution of revenues between both St Kitts and Nevis.

PM Drew also added that the two nations have been facing the issue of fair revenue sharing for decades with no development of a structured, transparent model to solve this problem.

He highlighted that for the first time in the history, St Kitts and Nevis has an expert – backed framework to guide them toward a fair and ethical solution.

Meeting with Premier Mark Brantley

Furthermore, to discuss the recommendations offered by the World Bank, PM Drew had a insightful meeting with Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley. Both the dignitaries discussed various ways to distribute fair revenues for the benefit of both the island nations.

Moreover, the two leaders also worked towards an agreement that ensures that Nevis also receives its rightful share of national revenues while maintaining fiscal balance within the Federation.

Future of St Kitts and Nevis

PM Drew emphasized that they are determined to solve this fundamental issue of fair revenue sharing to strengthen national unity and economic cooperation between the two islands.

The government will finalize a fair, transparent, and sustainable revenue – sharing model, in partnership with the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and the Federal Cabinet.

PM Dr Terrance Drew said this is a new era for St Kitts and Nevis and the authorities will ensure that every dollar is accounted for and that every Kittitian and Nevisian benefits from their national wealth.
