As the Aam Aadmi Party lost power in the national capital, the Delhi Secretariat on Saturday barred the movement of files, documents, and electronic records outside of the premises without prior approval. It also ordered to ramp up the security in the premises while also restricting the entry of people into the complex.

The order came after the BJP secured a massive mandate in the Delhi Assembly polls on Saturday, winning 48 seats, and overthrowing the AAP government from power.

What Was The Order?

According to the General Administration Department (GAD) order, the decision was taken to “address security concerns of records”.

“To address security concerns and safety of records, it is requested that no files/documents, Computer Hardware etc. may be taken outside Delhi Secretariat complex without permission from GAD,” the order said.

“It is therefore directed that necessary directions may be issued to the concerned Branch In-charges under the Departments/Offices situated in Delhi Secretariat to ensure safety of records, files, documents, electronic files etc. under their section/branches,” it added.

The order will be applied to all officers in the Secretariat, camp offices of ministers.

In a separate order, the entry of private individuals into the Secretariat premises was also restricted and they will be allowed to enter only after proper verification of their identity and purpose of visit.

The security guards were ordered to bump up surveillance across the Delhi Secretariat. Orders have also been issued to the officials to ensure that all CCTV camera in the complex remain operational 24×7 on all floors.

“To address security issues, it is directed that no unauthorised person(s) may be allowed to enter the Delhi Secretariat complex without permission from appropriate authority. Entry of private persons to Delhi Secretariat complex shall be ensured only after due verification of identity and purpose of visit,” the second order reads.
