Ben Affleck Reunites With Jay and Silent Bob in New Video 30 Years After First Film Together
Ben Affleck hasn’t rid himself of Jay and Silent Bob just yet. After appearing in multiple View Askewniverse movies, Affleck reunited with the pot-dealing duo once again, this time for a Dunkin’ ad.
On X, Dunkin’ shared a new ad featuring Affleck signing autographs for fans while wearing bright orange clothing, representing the brand. He is approached by Jay and Silent Bob, with Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith in character. Affleck greets them by saying, “I thought they banned you from these things.” Jay and Silent Bob then inquire about a “DunKings $6 meal deal” before then asking the actor for some autographs.

“I can get money for that!” Jay retorts, before Affleck tells the two to “get out of here.”
Kevin Smith and Ben Affleck Have Collaborated for 30 Years
Affleck, an early collaborator with Smith, has actually appeared in eight of the filmmaker’s movies, though a handful of them were small cameos. The collaboration began with Smith’s second feature film, Mallrats, which was released three decades ago in 1995. He played Shannon Hamilton, the boyfriend of Shannen Doherty’s Rene Mosier. He’d later play Holden McNeil, one of the two leads alongside Joey Lauren Adams, in Smith’s 1997 rom-com Chasing Amy. In 1999, Affleck and his good pal Matt Damon would co-star as two fallen angels in the 1999 religious comedy Dogma.

Kevin Smith was disappointed to hear that Ellen DeGeneres and Anne Heche walked out of his LGBTQ+ movie, Chasing Amy.
Affleck’s fourth Smith film was 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which saw him reprise his role as Holden McNeil; he also played himself in the film. In 2004, Affleck starred as widowed father Ollie Trinké in Smith’s dramedy Jersey Girl alongside Liv Tyler. Affleck would then have a small cameo as a customer in 2006’s Clerks II as well as another cameo as Holden in 2019’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. He appeared in his eighth Smith film with another cameo as Boston John in 2022’s Clerks III.
There might be more to come with Affleck in the View Askewniverse, and the next time might see the actor back in a more substantial role. Now that issues with the rights to Dogma have been resolved, Smith has teased his plans to finally make a sequel to the film. He also hinted that he wants to bring back both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to reprise their roles, though it’s important to note that a script still hasn’t yet been written, and there are no current deals in place for that to happen.
“I have been able to hold that over both their heads for 25 f—ing years, which is why they keep showing up in all the movies,” Smith said last year, per Deadline. “Expect a cameo from them — more than a f—ing cameo. The only way we get a Dogma sequel made is if they’re there. So count on those guys being there.”
