Science takes no snow day!

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Many kids across the ABC 13 coverage area had a snow day today!

But – science takes no snow day.

Here’s a trick you can try at home that is both fun – and educational!

It’s called a snow volcano.

You’ll need a mason jar, some soap, food coloring, baking soda and vinegar.

First, build your mountain of snow!

Then dig a small hole at the top of the mountain to place the mason jar in.

Fill the mason jar with baking soda.

A small squirt of soap along with some food coloring comes next

Then pour in the vinegar.. and watch the eruption!

The “eruption” is actually a chemical reaction that releases carbon dioxide gas.
