Lisa’s Rare Louis Vuitton Bag Is The Ultimate Collector’s Item

It was in Omotesando, Tokyo that I first encountered Louis Vuitton’s Miroir Alma GM in the wild, displayed as if an ancient relic behind a locked cabinet at Casanova Vintage. It’s really a portkey of a bag, transporting anyone back to the Noughties with one blink into its lustrous surface, to a time when Paris Hilton and her erstwhile closet organiser Kim Kardashian were toting the glossy status symbols through the streets of Beverly Hills. Its price tag – then as now – was one that few people could justify.

Lisa, being a global brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton and a multi-millionaire pop star-turned-actor, could have made the purchase – if it wasn’t for the fact that she already owns one, as well as a queen’s ransom of ultra-rare Speedys, Capucines and rare Takashi Murakami pieces, including the limited-edition Alma BB bag she was yesterday afternoon photographed with while padding through the courtyard of a hotel in Los Angeles. The bag first appeared within Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2003 collaboration with Murakami and again within a wider 2025 re-release.

“Those 20 years have flown by,” said the Japanese artist in a recent conversation with Vogue, reflecting on the inspirations behind the rainbow-monogrammed accessories. “At the time, I knew little about fashion,” he added, explaining that his goal was “to bring children into the Louis Vuitton world.” But of course all those children – and I mean, was it ever really kids buying those bags? – have now become grown adults scouring the shoppable internet for the second-hand originals. Good luck to them: Vestiaire Collective saw a 60 per cent increase in prices when the collaborative re-edition was announced back in December, while there was a 290 per cent spike in searches globally on eBay. It might be less hassle to travel to Omotesando, or be appointed a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton.
