Sam Raimi’s Next Horror Movie, Starring Rachel McAdams & Dylan O’Brien, Sets Release Date
The new film from Spider-Man and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi received an exciting update recently. Per Variety, Raimi’s new horror-thriller Send Help now has an official release date.
Send Help, starring Dylan O’Brien, Rachel McAdams, Dennis Haysbert, and Chris Pang, comes from 20th Century Studios and has a theatrical release date set for Jan. 30, 2026, per Variety. The film will go up against Paramount’s animated Aang: The Last Airbender. Send Help follows the story of a woman, McAdams, who is stranded on a remote island with her boss after a plane crashes. It focuses on their struggle to stay alive.

The former Hulk actor will star in an upcoming horror-thriller movie in a role that’s far different from the destructive superhero.
A Cross Between Two Classics
The film was first reported to be in development in the summer of 2024 and is described as a cross between the 1990 Rob Reiner-directed Stephen King based Misery and Cast Away (2000), directed by Robert Zemeckis.
A summary of the film reads that Send Help is about: “Two colleagues who become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash. On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.”
The script for Send Help was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who also wrote Baywatch (2017).
McAdams and O’Brien Star
McAdams, who is known for her roles as Regina George in Mean Girls, The Notebook, and The Time Traveler’s Wife, was cast in the film back in October 2024. She worked with Raimi previously on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which she played Christine Palmer, the love interest of Doctor Strange.
O’Brien was announced as joining Send Help in January and is coming off his role in the M. Night Shyamalan thriller Caddo Lake, which is streaming on Max. He also starred as a young Dan Aykroyd in the Jason Reitman-directed Saturday Night, which chronicled the first-ever episode of Saturday Night Live.

A Horror Comeback
Send Help will be Raimi’s return to horror as he has not directed a film in the genre since 2009’s Drag Me to Hell. It also marks his first movie since 2022’s Multiverse of Madness. Filming is already underway for the movie as was shared recently on producer Zainab Azizi’s Instagram story.
Send Help hits theaters Jan. 30, 2026. Raimi’s Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness is streaming on Disney+.
