Food that causes anxiety and depression: what science says
Freak Fri may well seem innocent, but its regular consumption may have unpleasant health consequences. In particular, studies show that fried foods, especially free, increase the risk of depression and anxiety.
So, if you want to keep your mood, you must rethink your approach to food. Why is this so, and that scientists learned about it, not so.
Scientists from the University of Zhejiang in China analyzed the data for 11 years with more than 140,000 people. They discovered a clear connection between frequent use of quick nutrition and a deterioration in mental health, since frequent consumption of fried products increases the risk of anxiety by 12% and depression by 7%, especially in men and youth.
The main reason is acrylamide, which is formed at high temperatures that can adversely affect the nervous system and brain. However, this is still confirmed only in experiments with fish.
In addition, high doses of this substance cause anxiety behavior in animals, and some studies associate it with the risk of cancer. Thus, although the influence of acrylamide on people has not yet been proven, it is better to reduce the consumption of fast food and fried dishes in the diet.
If you want something crisp, it is better to cook at home using corn starch or almond flour instead of wheat. For frying, choose olive oil and even better – bake dishes to reduce the amount of fat.
