Grants up to $5000 now available for local sports

The Sporting Club Grants Program opened for application on Thursday, February 20, offering up to $5000 in funding to invigorate community sports.

From improving the skills of volunteers, coaches, and officials to implementing initiatives to boost volunteer retention, the grants aim to support the servants on the sidelines.

Additional funding rounds include up to $4000 for new community programs, $1000 for uniforms and equipment, and $750 travel grants for competitions away from home.

State Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe urged local clubs to seize the opportunity.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of community sport across our region, and clubs simply can’t function without them,” she said.

“With today’s busy lifestyles, retaining volunteers has never been more important.

“I encourage local clubs to put forward initiatives for funding to support their tireless volunteers, and I would be delighted to provide a letter of support for any local grant applications.

“I look forward to seeing successful recipients across our region.”

Applications close on March 27.
