Mercury Bischoff becomes first Northlander since 2003 to be named Ms. Hockey
On Sunday, Grand Rapids/Greenway’s Mercury Bischoff became the first Northlander since 2003 to be crowned Ms. Hockey.
This season, the senior scored 58 goals for the Lightning, adding 28 assists for a total of 86 points on the season. Bischoff also lead the entire state in goals and points.
She eclipsed the 30 goal mark in each of the past five seasons, scoring 40 or more three times and completely breaking through this year, tallying a career high with 58. Bischoff finishes her career with 381 points, which ranks 12th all time in state history.
Andrea Nichols was the last Northland girl to win the award, taking it home in 2003 for Hibbing/Chisholm.
Bischoff saw her high school career end in the Section 7AA title game, falling 7-3 to Andover, but will continue to play hockey in the state of Minnesota, as she heads to the University of Minnesota Mankato to play collegiate hockey.
