Government plans modernization of the Delhi zoo entrance plaza | India News

National Zoological Park (Delhi zoo) NEW DELHI: The Centre has planned to modernize the entrance of the National Zoological Park (Delhi zoo) by constructing a multi-utility plaza at its entry gate along Mathura Road.
The entrance plaza will be equipped with facilities such as food court, cloak room, security related infrastructure, queue management area, souvenir shop, visitor center and parking area.
“Modernization of the entrance plaza of Delhi zoo is part of a larger development plan, keeping in view site requirements, visitor profile, availability of water and electricity, vegetation, climatic conditions and resources available with management,” said an official in the environment ministry.
The ministry has already issued a document carrying detailed information for the modernization of the entrance plaza which will have a minimum plinth area 9,000 sq m and development area of minimum 35,000 sq m at Mathura Road. It will consist of 16,000 sq m of multi-level parking area for

two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers and buses with a

semi-permanent structure using steel or suitable material.
According to the information for consultancy service for modernization of the entrance plaza, the food court within the plaza will have an area of 2,000 sq m. The plaza will also have 11,000 sq m area for landscaping and future expansion.
