Jyotika explains if she felt she missed on Hindi films due to her South career; says, “I’m not sure if I had probably got that kind of roles if I had worked in Hindi” : Bollywood News

Not too long ago, fans of Jyotika were surprised when they saw her return to Bollywood films with Shaitaan starring Ajay Devgn in 2024, after she made her debut in the industry way back in 1999. As she continues her stint with Hindi projects now, as she gears up for Dabba Cartel on Netflix, Jyotika was asked whether she regrets not taking up more Hindi films earlier and if she felt she has missed out on any opportunity.

Discussing her career trajectory in South, Jyotika expressed her gratitude towards them for not welcoming her with open arms but also providing her with roles of powerful protagonists despite the seven year break she took post motherhood. Speaking to Screen, and answering the question of whether there any regrets in terms of missed opportunities in Hindi films, Jyotika said, “I was extremely happy in the South. I have done some of my best roles there and I could only be glad that I was part of South films. Because I’m not sure if I had probably got those roles if I had worked in Hindi. In fact I was married and stopped working at 28 and then got back to films when I was 35. And I did see a lot of prominent roles coming up my way in Tamil where I played the protagonist. And here I am in Hindi now where I am again receiving a very warm welcome. So no complaints. I am very happy with the way the career has shaped.”

The actress has also made a drastic personal change as she has shifted to Mumbai along with husband and Tamil superstar Suriya as well as their kids, indicating that she would like to explore the Hindi film industry further. However, despite Dabba Cartel being her next project and with a few other ventures in the pipeline, Jyotika has revealed that she would also continue with her South projects as well.
