A Dung Beetle Story’ Animated Movie
Ryan Reynolds frequently finds himself dipping into a bit of toilet humor in his projects, and it looks like he is about to go all in with a new project from Maximum Effort that really is a load of sh – oh, apparently it isn’t quite what it seems.
Although Reynolds is often seen lowering the tone in many of his movies with lewd jokes and low-brow humor, the new project that he is producing is literally called I Eat Poop. However, all is not as some would expect, as the new animated movie is based on the popular children’s book by Mark Pett, the full title of which is “I Eat Poop: A Dung Beetle Story.” Make more sense now? Good.

Of Course Ryan Reynolds Pitched an R-Rated ‘Star Wars’ Movie to Disney
“I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion.”
According to Deadline, the film will be coming from Paramount Animation, but with Reynolds’ production company also part of the creative team, there is every chance that the Deadpool star could be providing his vocal services to the film as well. So far, no confirmed casting details have been revealed, but Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley is believed to be helming the movie.
Could ‘I Eat Poop’ Be a Tasty Hit?
Roaring Brook Press
After the incredible recent success of films like A Minecraft Movie – which on paper seemed like a guaranteed failure – there is nothing to suggest that I Eat Poop could be an impressive box office performer in the right hands. If Reynolds is also onboard to star in the film as well, then that success could be given a boost as the Canadian’s name often seems to deliver decent results at the box office.
For those who have gone through their lives without ever coming across I Eat Poop, the book’s synopsis reads:
“Dougie has a secret: he’s not a ground beetle. He’s a dung beetle, and he loves eating poop. Dougie knows he should be proud. Dung beetles help process waste and do other extraordinary things! But Dougie also knows that if anyone at school saw his lunch, he’d be an outcast. One day, the lunchroom bugs out over a classmate eating poop, and Dougie must make a choice. Can he stand up for his friend―and for his true self?”
Reynolds’ Maximum Effort has been part of many hit movies, and most of them have starred the actor in some capacity, so it seems that the chances of hearing his voice – probably as Dougie, because why not – in a movie with poop in the title are pretty high right now. While there is no release date known for the movie, it is unlikely to arrive before the middle of next year.
