The immersive and unique outdoor screenings will be hosted by car brand Dacia, following a partnership with the festival to launch the experience for 2026.

Audience members will watch films from the comfort of a Dacia vehicle, with 12 screenings planned throughout the festival weekend, which runs from November 19 to 22.

The films will be selected from the 2026 International Film Festival programme and will include a mix of adventure features and family-friendly titles.

Kendal Mountain Festival said: “Over the Festival weekend (19 – 22nd Nov) Dacia and their ‘Drive-in Cinema’ will host 12 dedicated film screenings, as well as live Q&A sessions and industry-focused events, which will all be enjoyed from the comfort and warmth of a Dacia car.”

Highlights of the weekend include a Q&A with explorer and chief scout Dwayne Fields and WeTwo Adventure charity co-founder Phoebe Smith.

The pair will be joined by five beneficiaries from the WeTwo Foundation.

Sarah Ruggins, a record breaking endurance cyclist, and Ed Jackson, Adaptive Adventurer, will also be live in conversation.

Films shown at the drive in cinema include:

Robson: Two world-class ski mountaineers attempt a daring first descent of Mount Robson’s South Face, retracing the footsteps of alpine pioneers and the weight of a legacy that has challenged generations.

Hunter’s Moon: Ski mountaineers Christina ‘Lusti’ Lustenberger and Guillaume ‘Gee’ Pierrel carve a first ski descent on New Zealand’s Aoraki / Mt. Cook.
