A Treasure Trove of Mint Louis Vuitton Collectibles Heads to Auction
Attention, all Louis Vuitton fans: Now’s the time to snag some coveted pieces for your collection.
A treasure trove of items from the French fashion house is heading to auction later this month via Bonhams. Three hundred and seventeen mint-condition pieces—all acquired by one well-heeled collector over the past 10 years—will be up for grabs, including items brought to life by the minds of Pharrell Williams (the current men’s artistic director), Virgil Abloh, and Nicolas Ghesquière.
Among the collectibles on offer are 138 bags and small leather goods, ranging from Speedies, Neverfulls, and CarryAlls; 77 pieces of jewelry and accessories; 80 scarves, shawls, and stoles done up in silk and cashmere; and 10 ready-to-wear pieces. Estimates for the Monogram in the Spotlight auction range from about $170 to $9,300 (€150 to €8,000).
A Petite Malle and a BB Constellations bag are two of the offerings up for grabs.
One top lot is a circa 2021 Capucine BB Constellations bag made in a blue silk satin. The piece, embordered with Swarovski rhinestones, comes from the era of Ghesquière and is expected to fetch between $4,600 and $7,000 (€4,000-€6,000). If a Petite Malle is more your speed, you can snag a silver-leather edition adorned with padded monogram sequins; that bag is estimated to hammer down for around $2,900 to $4,000. Other highlights hitting the block are a Fall/Winter 2023 Ready-to-Wear bomber jacket ($1,400-$2,000) and a Pre-Fall/Winter 2024 Alma BB bag, complete with a zebra head patch ($1,200-$1,400).
The austion also includes offerings from LV collabs with Tyler, the Creator (who has a rather impressive collection of trunks from the fashion house) and Takashi Murakami’s famed colorful designs for the brand, which first came to life back in 2003, among others.
“This auction is an homage to Louis Vuitton and the exemplary single-owner collection of designs from the last 10 years shows the visionary design work and groundbreaking fashion collaborations that spearheaded the brand into a new era in fashion history,” Hubert Felbacq, director of the Fashion and Accessories department at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris, said in a statement. “The collection on offer is in pristine condition and features designs that will appeal to collectors across the globe.”
The “Monogram in the Spotlight” auction will run online from August 27 to September 10. Happy bidding.
