Abu Dhabi Sports Council extends UAE Tour cycling commitment

The cycling event organizer RCS Sports and Events has renewed its partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) for the continued organization of the annual men’s and women’s UAE Tour.

The renewed deal ensures that ADSAC will continue to organize both the seven-stage men’s road race and the four-stage women’s road race over the coming years, beginning with the 2026 editions.

The 2025 UAE Tour Women’s took place from February 6 through February 9, while the men’s race was staged between February 17 and February 23.

Speaking on the renewed partnership, RCS Mediagroup president Urbano Cairo stated: “The UAE Tour and UAE Tour Women have now become unmissable events on the international calendar, and this agreement confirms our shared commitment to continued growth and innovation.”

The men’s UAE Tour was first staged in 2019 following the merger of the Abu Dhabi Tour and the Dubai Tour, while the UAE Tour Women’s was launched in 2023. Both events are a part of the respective men’s and women’s UCI World Tour series’.

ADSC secretary general Aref Hamad Al Awani added: “Renewing the partnership with RCS is a new step towards achieving our strategic goals and continuing the successes accomplished since the first editions of the UAE Tours for men and women.

“We are committed to attracting top global sporting events to Abu Dhabi and promoting cycling both within our community and on the international stage”.

The continued operation of the two UAE Tours maintains the state’s goal to become an international cycling hub, perhaps best exemplified by the country’s co-ownership of the UCI WorldTour team UAE Team Emirates XRG, purchased in 2017.

Since then, the team has emerged as one of the strongest on the tour, thanks in no small part to the success of Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar, who, after signing for the team in 2019, became the youngest UCI WorldTour winner ever, and has won the elite Tour de France on three occasions.

Other prominent events promoted by the ADSC include the Women’s Tennis Association’s Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open (of which ADSC is the presenting partner), cricket’s Abu Dhabi T10 championship, and golf’s Abu Dhabi Champions, which recently renewed to stay on the DP World Tour calendar through 2028.

RCS Sports, meanwhile, is best known as the organizer of the annual Giro d’Italia race, which, alongside the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, stands as one of the sport’s three “Grand Tour” majors.
