Acer expands India footprint with new facility in Puducherry, targets 3 lakh laptops annually

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Acer has opened its new manufacturing facility in Puducherry. The facility, owned and operated by contract manufacturer Plumage Solutions, aims to help Acer scale its operations in India, including the production of computer monitors, All-in-One (AIO) desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters.

The new facility will have a production capacity of 3,00,000 laptop units per year. Plumage Group has planned an investment of ₹50 crore over the next 3-4 years to scale production to support Acer’s manufacturing capacity and capability in India.

The facility, established under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for IT Hardware, is part of Acer India’s broader localisation roadmap, aimed at increasing domestic production, reducing import dependence, and addressing the rising demand from both urban and emerging markets, the company said in a release.
