AFP hosts World Athletics Coaches Certification Course in Lahore

LAHORE   –   The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has successfully organised the World Athletics Coaches Certification Course in Lahore, bringing together 24 participants from across the country for an intensive two-week program. The course combined theoretical learning with practical training, focusing on modern athletics coaching techniques developed by World Athletics. Participants were equipped with the latest methods to enhance athlete performance and development at both grassroots and elite levels. The closing ceremony was graced by Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, Vice President of Asian Athletics, who served as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasised the importance of the course and urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained to uplift athletics standards nationwide. Other notables present on the occasion were AFP President Brig (R) Wajahat Hussain, Brig (R) Ghazanfar, Zubair Yousaf Butt, Syed Ameer Ali and others. Adding to the significance of the occasion, August 8 was celebrated as a special day, marking the anniversary of Pakistan’s first-ever Olympic athletics gold medal, a historic achievement by Olympic record-holder Arshad Nadeem.
