Tech News
A new LinkedIn report reveals that 75% of Indian recruiters now invest up to 70% of their hiring budgets in AI and recruitment tech tools. The focus has shifted from hiring fast to hiring right, with quality of hire emerging as the top metric for success. AI-powered tools like LinkedIn Recruiter 2024 are now helping HR teams work smarter, not just faster.
LinkedIn says 3 out of 4 Indian recruiters now spend most of their budget on AI tools.
New Delhi: Indian recruiters are now spending more than ever on AI and tech tools to hire the right people, and they’re doing it faster. A new LinkedIn study has found that 3 out of 4 recruiters in India are putting up to 70% of their hiring budgets into recruitment tech and AI tools. But the goal isn’t speed anymore. It’s quality.
The India Hiring ROI research, based on insights from over 1,300 HR professionals across 10 Indian cities, shows a shift away from mass hiring to a more precise, skills-first approach. Top priorities now include finding candidates with transferable skills, investing in smarter tech, and proving hiring ROI to the C-suite.
Quality is the new currency
While 72% of Indian recruiters say quality of hire is the main success metric, 60% still track time to hire, and 59% measure revenue per employee. The report notes that slow hiring often costs companies their best candidates. Over 58% of recruiters say delays lead to losing talent to faster rivals. Others said it creates team pressure and reduces morale.
“Many recruiters cast the net wide but not deep,” said Ruchee Anand, Head of LinkedIn Talent Solutions, India. “The opportunity lies in using AI and data to shift from quick-fill roles to high-impact hires.”
AI tools get the real work done behind the scenes
More recruiters are now relying on AI not just for speed, but for quality too. According to the report:
- 69% use data analytics to guide decisions
- 63% use AI tools to boost hiring speed and accuracy
- 45% say AI makes their hiring more efficient
- 42% believe it frees them up to focus on strategic hiring
With tools like LinkedIn Recruiter 2024, AI-generated messages are seeing 44% higher acceptance rates globally, and responses come in 11% faster. The newly introduced AI agent called Hiring Assistant handles repetitive tasks like sourcing and screening.
Recruiters are becoming advisors
As hiring gets more technical, so do the roles of recruiters. Over 90% of Indian HR professionals now see themselves as career advisors rather than just people managers. They’re also using personalisation, content, and data to engage with candidates in new ways.
Sunil Chemmankotil, MD at Adecco India, added, “Traditional job titles no longer capture the full scope of what candidates bring. With tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, we can now decode roles into the core skills that truly matter.”
The survey was conducted in May 2025 by YouGov and LinkedIn, covering cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and others. The sample included HR professionals between the ages of 25 and 65.
