AICTE Indovation Centre Hosts Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer Workshop at Nehru Science Centre as Part of National Science Week 2025
As part of the National Science Week 2025 celebrations, the AICTE Indovation Centre (Western Region), in collaboration with the Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, successfully organized an Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer Workshop during the Teachers’ Training Program. The workshop aimed to equip educators with knowledge on intellectual property rights (IPR), technology transfer, and commercialization strategies to help foster innovation and entrepreneurship in academic institutions.
The event commenced with an inaugural address by Mr Umesh Kumar Rustagi, Director, Nehru Science Centre, who emphasized the significance of National Science Week in fostering a scientific mindset among educators and students. He highlighted the role of educators in bridging academic research with real-world industry applications to create a knowledge-driven economy. The workshop featured a keynote address by Mr Umesh Rathod, Head, Indovation Centre, AICTE, on “Viksit Bharat: Changing Entrepreneurial & Innovation Landscape in India.” He discussed the emerging trends in entrepreneurship and innovation, the government’s initiatives supporting startups, and the crucial role of educators in shaping future innovators by promoting intellectual property awareness. In an informative session, Mrs. Shalaka Tolye, an IPR Attorney, provided insights into Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and its growing significance in academia.
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion on “Role of IPR, Entrepreneurship & Innovation for Viksit Bharat 2047,” where all distinguished dignitaries addressed key topics such as the importance of IPR in fostering a culture of innovation, the role of academic institutions in integrating entrepreneurship into their curriculum, and strategies to enhance technology transfer and commercialization of research. The discussion also featured real-world case studies demonstrating the impact of IPR-driven ventures on industry and society.

The workshop was a key event in National Science Week 2025, reinforcing the importance of science, research, and innovation as fundamental pillars for India’s development. The event underscored the critical role of intellectual property in transforming ideas into tangible innovations, fostering startups, and driving a knowledge-based economy.
