New Delhi: Air India Express is expanding its domestic network by launching direct flights from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad to Varanasi and Patna, effective from 1 May 2025. This move is part of the airline’s strategy to offer affordable travel options for National Capital Region (NCR) residents, particularly those in Ghaziabad, Noida, East Delhi, Saharanpur, and Meerut.

Growing connectivity from Hindon airport

These new routes expand Air India Express’s operations from Hindon, which already includes flights to Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bhubaneswar. The airline is the first to operate from both IGIA and Hindon, providing passengers with greater flexibility in their choice of airport and routes.

With a fleet of 99 aircraft (63 Boeing 737s and 36 Airbus A320s), Air India Express operates over 400 daily flights, serving 39 domestic and 16 international destinations. The airline’s efforts aim to increase access to affordable air travel across India.

Hindon Airport’s emergence as NCR’s secondary hub

Hindon Airport, under the management of the Airports Authority of India, is positioning itself as a competitive alternative to IGIA. The airport’s capacity of 300 passengers per hour, along with its eight check-in counters and two baggage belts, makes it an attractive option for NCR residents seeking to avoid the congestion of IGIA.

The introduction of these new routes is expected to increase passenger traffic at Hindon, solidifying its role as an essential part of India’s growing domestic aviation network.
