Amari Thomas, a 4-star RB, commits for 2026
COLUMBIA — South Carolina football landed another four-star recruit and its first running back in the class of 2026.
Amari Thomas, 5-foot-10, 187 pounds from Blountstown, Florida, announced he chose Shane Beamer’s program on Aug. 8. This is the 15th 2026 commitment for the Gamecocks.
He narrowed his final options down to South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Florida State and Georgia Tech. He is the No. 48 player in Florida in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 22 running back in his recruiting class.
Beamer wrote his “Welcome Home” message on X not long after the news was announced.
Thomas played for Marianna High School for three years but is spending his senior year at Blountstown High School. According to 247Sports, he rushed for 1,880 yards and 34 touchdowns (12.3 yards per carry) in 10 games as a junior. He caught 14 passes for 247 yards and three touchdowns as well.
As a sophomore in 2023, Thomas rushed for 1,365 yards and 22 touchdowns (8.9 yards per carry) to go with 17 receptions for 323 yards and three touchdowns.
Both of Beamer’s potential top running backs for this season in Oscar Adaway III and Rahsul Faison are done after the 2025 season, which adds even more importance to Thomas’ decision.
