Amazon & DGFT Expand Partnership To Boost India’s E-Commerce Exports
New Delhi, Feb 8 (KNN) E-commerce giant Amazon and India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership aimed at accelerating e-commerce exports from India.
The enhanced collaboration, which extends their initial memorandum of understanding signed in November 2023, focuses on empowering Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with essential capabilities and resources to succeed in international markets through e-commerce channels.
The expanded initiative encompasses a comprehensive training program that will span 47 districts across India. A key technological advancement includes the integration of Amazon’s Export Navigator tool with DGFT’s Trade Connect portal, streamlining the export process for businesses.
Additionally, the partnership will establish dedicated export communities that will function as accessible, localised networks for both current and prospective e-commerce exporters.
These newly formed export communities will serve as crucial networking hubs, bringing together various stakeholders in the export ecosystem.
Participants will include government representatives, third-party service providers, manufacturers, existing and potential e-commerce exporters, export organisations, and members of Amazon’s Global Selling exports programme.
This collaborative approach aims to create a supportive environment for businesses venturing into international trade.
The partnership will implement diverse educational events and workshops designed to guide MSMEs in expanding their product offerings and optimising their export operations.
By combining Amazon’s extensive global presence and e-commerce expertise with DGFT’s deep understanding of local markets, the initiative seeks to create new opportunities for Indian sellers in the international marketplace, supporting the government’s broader economic objectives.
According to Santosh Sarangi, Additional Secretary and Director General of DGFT, Ministry of Commerce, the partnership has already demonstrated significant impact by supporting over 3,000 MSMEs.
The collaboration aligns with India’s ambitious target of achieving USD 200-300 billion in exports by 2030, marking a substantial step toward enhancing the country’s position in global trade through digital commerce.
