Amazon India Achieves 50% YoY Order Growth in Prime Day 2025ETBrandEquity
Amazon India’s Prime Day 2025, held from July 12 to 14, has registered its highest-ever order volume, with over 18,000 orders per minute and a 50 per cent year-on-year growth, the company said in a media release on Monday.
The event saw a broader seller base, with 68 per cent of participating sellers coming from non-metro cities. Over 70 per cent of new Prime sign-ups originated from Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns. Amazon reported a 1.8x increase in two-day deliveries across smaller cities and said tens of thousands of orders were delivered within four hours in Tier 1 cities.
“Prime members purchased more items than any previous Prime Day shopping event, while we created new records on speed with the highest number of same day deliveries,” said Akshay Sahi, Head of Amazon Prime, Delivery and Returns Experiences, India and Emerging Markets.
The platform hosted launches from over 400 Indian and global brands. The Home, Kitchen & Outdoor category grew by 1.2x, while sales of fitness equipment and furniture doubled. Premium smartphones recorded over 60 per cent value growth, driven by brands such as Samsung, Apple, and OnePlus.
Around 25 per cent of purchases were made on EMI, with 90 per cent of those opting for No Cost EMI. Amazon Business reported a 3x increase in new customer sign-ups and nearly 7x growth in Prime subscriptions. Electronics bulk buying contributed to higher volumes in categories like robotic vacuums, tablets, headphones, and televisions.
